  14. I brought a modem which has worked perfectly in Europe with me to 
  15. Mexico.... when I connect it to the local telephone line it receives so 
  16. much extra noice (interference?) that it is hard to hear the outgoing 
  17. signal... no connection can be made to the local server...
  18.  
  19. Does anyone have any idea what could be behind this? The telephone works 
  20. perfectly OK... do I have to give my modem some additional commands 
  21. because of the different (can it really be?) system??
